3. Name some 21st century skills. Which skills do you think are important?

Answer: As a teacher of 2nd graders, I know that the 3R's (Reading, Writing, and arithmetic) remain the most important skills. However, to prepare my students for the 21st century, my approach to teaching these skills will change. I should examine my approach to delivering the 2nd grade curriculum to promote and support such 21st century skills as self-direction, adaptability, problelm solving, inventive thinking, risk taking, global awareness, collaboration skills, digital proficiency, and higher order thinking skills. Children will also need to understand how to apply skills to real world applications.
